On-Site Customized PPC UniversityPre-work and planning of customized, four-day universities is intense, including a full-day, on-site preparatory visit to a host organization by the PRHI instructional team. The goal is to provide an organization with the most useful observations and to ensure that participants are prepared to immediately begin implementing work redesign principles and continuous quality improvement when they return to their daily work. PRHI staff works with the organization to identify the most meaningful opportunities and situations to introduce into class discussion and application of daily lessons. Often organizations with no clinical venues (such as a health insurer) seek on-site PPC training. For these organizations, we also arrange observations in nearby healthcare settings. The curriculum for a customized, four-day university is usually sequenced just as it is in PPC Open University, but it can be modified to suit the needs of the host institution. On-site programs also feature the same excellent workbook, readings, videos and teaching tools. |
On-site Customized PPC 101 TrainingThis one-day training lays a foundation for understanding the values and philosophy of Perfecting Patient Caresm. Participants learn the 14 business principles of The Toyota Production System as outlined in The Toyota Way by Jeffrey Liker. Instructors provide an overview of "The DNA of Toyota," by Steven Spear, and teach the Rules of Work Design. Participants then apply what they have learned in a hands-on, Alcoa-developed learning exercise. Participants also learn how to develop and use an "A3 diagram" to help them actively participate in problem-solving and work-redesign efforts in their own workplaces. Instructors customize each session to meet participant and institutional needs. |
